Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 to have Sony Motion Controller compatiblity and two-man cover
- March 09, 2010 14:40 PM PST
When Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 hits the links on June 8, the game will have two major new additions the series has never had before--Sony Motion Controller compatibility and another player on the cover.
For the second straight year, Tiger Woods is leading the charge for new motion controllers. Tiger Woods 10 came out for the Wii boasting Motion Plus controller support before the peripheral was even released, and this year, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will have support for the PlayStation Motion Controller. Once again, Tiger will beat the new accessory to market, as the game is due out for the PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and iPhone platforms on June 8, while the Motion Controller won't release until the fall. EA is forgoing a PC release this year to focus on its browser-based Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online, which is currently in beta.
With Tiger's current hiatus from golf, EA is shifting the focus of the game to other players, as the game will place a heavy focus on the team-based Europe vs. U.S. Ryder Cup event. Also, for the first time in series history, Tiger Woods will share the cover of one of his games with another player, as seen below. The groundbreaking golfer that's sharing the limelight is 20-year-old Northern Irish phenom Rory McIlroy.
GamePro will be chatting with select EA Sports developers during GDC--check back soon to hear more about Tiger Woods' new gaming direction.

For non-golf fans, putting Rory McIlroy on the cover of this game would be like the NBA putting Brandon Jennings on the cover with LeBron. McIlroy didn't even participate in the last Ryder Cup! EA should have chosen an established European performer like Sergio Garcia (who has an established, natural rivalry with Tiger), Paul Casey, or Ian Poulter.

Glad it has motion controls. Now I can make believe i'm Tigers wife and smack him across the face with a nine iron.
